Excellence in Caring Award Winner: Julie Holbert

May 21, 2018 by Diane Genovese

The Alzheimer’s Association, Michigan Great Lakes Chapter, sponsors a yearly event, titled Excellence in Caring to honor those that go above and beyond or have a special function working with Alzhiemer’s patients and families.  As one of the many participating organizations, Comfort Keepers is honored to announce Julie Holbert as our recipient for the Excellence in Caring Award.  Julie has been with Comfort Keepers for close to nine years as our Office Manager and whom we call our “Jane of all trades.”  She began her career with us as a caregiver which was a win/win for both her and her clients as Julie is compassionate, empathetic, kind and nurturing by nature.  Several months later a position for an office manager opened; a perfect fit for Julie’s skills set and schedule while raising her family.  Julie, along with her mother, cared for her grandmother with dementia for close to seven years. She is most familiar with this journey that has affected so many families.

We believe that the greatest satisfaction comes from giving to others and knowing that you have made someone feel comfortable, lightened their load by listening and offering support. Julie does this daily. Julie is truly mindful of others and treats every person with respect and courtesy. She conducts herself this way at all times, with every call every situation presented. Often you will hear Julie on the phone with a client or caregiver, offering them support and solutions with genuine mindfulness.  No phone call is too long for Julie while assisting the one in need on the other end. Her listening skills truly enhance the close bonds she has created between our caregivers, family members of our clients and the clients themselves.

With every hat that Julie wears and there are a multitude of them, she truly goes above and beyond with a willingness to step up and this is nothing short of admirable. Her kindness, strong work ethics, dependability and sincerity does not go unnoticed to anyone around her. We are grateful beyond measure Julie, for all you do and enjoy walking in to the office each morning to be greeted by your warm smile. God bless you for all you do and for simply being you.
