Great New Year’s Resolutions For the Familial In Home Caregiver
Dec 30, 2016 by Diane Genovese
With the New Year right around the corner, there is no better time for any person to start making some positive resolutions. For those who are also acting as a familial in home caregiver for their loved ones, there are a number of different great resolutions that they can start making in the new year, so that they can be better caregivers and make the most of 2017. Being a familial in home caregiver, whether it is part-time, full-time or even just occasional, is no easy task. Here are some resolutions that can help make the coming year better for any familial care provider.
- Get Healthier- There are so many caregivers that do not take care of themselves. Caregivers should schedule time to make sure they are exercising and doing things to take care of their own well being. The healthier the caregiver is, the better of a caregiver they will be.
- Focus on Mental Health- It is very taxing to help care for a senior. The more seniors can do to focus on their mental health, the better.
- Take Breaks- Respite care providers are available for senior caregivers who need them. These “fill in” caregivers can come in and provide temporary or part-time care so that family caregivers can take vacations, run errands or take care of their own needs. It is a great idea to make a resolution to actually use respite care in the year 2017.
- Try new activities with your senior loved one- Make it a resolution to try a new activity with your senior loved one this holiday season. Whether it is going on walks or trying arts and crafts, new activities can help you form a better bond with your senior loved one in the coming year.
Keep these resolutions in mind if you are looking for ways to become a better familial caregiver for your senior loved one. Resolutions like this can not only help you be a better in home caregiver but they can help you be a happier, healthier and more balanced individual as well. With these resolutions in mind any family care provider can be on their way to a better 2017 for themselves and their loved one.
